In one of our more expansive discussions, Brent Aldon from Aneros discusses the company's history, philosophy and design ethos. We feature Aneros as part of our Male Sexual Health section because of their commitment to sexual fitness, exhaustive research and true medical innovation.
How did your company or organization get its name?
The name Aneros was derived from two words: Anatomy + Eros (love).
What is the appeal of your product? What differentiates your products from those of your competitors?
Aneros is the original hands-free, self-propelled prostate (Male G-spot) massager. Its development teamed the resources of a urologist and an inventor (an individual with a number of machine and engine design patents). As a result, the Aneros was created in accordance with the anatomical specifications of the human body and the physics of movement. It remains this way with all our products today.
In the realm of prostate toys most manufacturers are relegated to turning out products that focus on form over function...producing items that look acceptable on paper but don’t perform well in practice. Most are poorly conceived and poorly finished devices. As a company who continues to sell our products in the health marketplace we are committed to higher standards than any of our competitors.
How do your products enhance customers' experiences?
Aneros products are designed to be easy to use right out of the box, for couples looking for an erotic amplifier for their sensual encounters. Be it intercourse, oral or foreplay, with an Aneros in place, any movement of the body is translated into powerful internal stimulation. Invariably these sensations lead to stronger erections and more intense orgasms that are voluminous and more fulfilling.
Aneros products can also be used for solo encounters to enhance traditional orgasms or to experience hands-free, Male G-spot orgasms. These Tantric or “Super Orgasms” as they are sometimes known, are immense whole-body events that can last minutes at a time and can often be repeated without the “time-out” that accompanies ejaculation. When used hands-free, the Aneros stimulates up to 4 erogenous zones simultaneously, awakening a non-penile arousal pathway that makes the Super O possible.
Some of our more experienced users have been able to re-train their bodies to have orgasms on demand in this new way, without the assistance of the Aneros. For this reason, our products have often been referred to as “Tantric Training Wheels” in user forums.
The adult toy industry is largely unregulated from a medical perspective so there are some manufacturers who market their use of "body safe" and "medical grade" materials (e.g. the industry has moved from rubber, to PVC to Silicone among others). Does your business encounter stricter regulations and more oversight in other countries?
Given that Aneros products have always been made from medical and food grade materials, we have never had a problem in gaining acceptance in foreign or domestic markets.
What criteria do you use in selecting your materials? How do you test/evaluate your products?
Again, we only use medical or food grade materials that are either non-porous or of very low porosity so they offer little or no surface area for bacterial growth. This makes our products easy to clean and maintain. In terms of composition these materials are relatively inert, so they will not breakdown, degrade or leach any components into the body, even when subjected to high heat or treated chemically (submerged in alcohol).
Adult toys have gone mainstream. How has greater mainstream acceptance affected your business and how you develop products?
While adult toys in general have gained a wider acceptance, anal/prostate toys have been a little slower to catch on, owing to a long-standing stigma in the heterosexual community about this kind of play. Fortunately, our company had a bit of a leg up seeing as we were already established in the health field. This established a credibility we could build upon, at a time when many of our users were stumbling upon the “side effect” of the Male G-spot orgasm. This discovery gave birth to a new marketing arm of our company that in turn created the market for prostate toys that world knows today.
How has Amazon affected your business?
It’s fair to say that there are very few businesses that Amazon hasn’t effected to one degree or another. In our case, it’s made us re-evaluate our distributor and logistical pipelines to ensure that authorized, genuine Aneros product makes it to the end user.
What would you like customers to know about your products and company that marketing materials might not adequately communicate.
A clear majority of men today believe that they know everything there is to know about generating an orgasm. The truth is, most have barely scratched the surface, leaving an entire realm of male sexuality unexplored. Users of our products have reported life-changing experiences that have completely redefined their frame of reference regarding sexual fulfillment.
In addition to their discovery of whole-body orgasms, many have reported gaining mastery of their sexual response, such that they’re able to have multiple orgasms at will, without the loss of arousal in between. This extends solo activity to whole new order of magnitude and effectively levels the playing field in a couples setting, allowing men to go toe to toe with multi-orgasmic partners. For many men, ejaculation becomes a choice, not an inevitability. And when it is chosen, it is far more powerful, more voluminous and far more satisfying.
In addition to all of this, there is the health side to consider. Our devices were originally designed as health products, for the treatment of prostatitis and BPH (enlargement of the prostate). In one study, over 80% of the men that participated reported some degree of improvement of their symptoms (with 62% reporting very good to complete alleviation of symptoms). The Aneros is also an effective Kegelciser, for toning the PC and other pelvic floor muscles.
What are three products in your line that you think do not get enough recognition?
The Progasm Junior. The world of prostate devices, the name Progasm is synonymous with maximal size, robust stimulation and great agility. The Progasm Junior embodies many of the same features but in a more compact version that’s good for newer users looking for stronger sensations, as well as intermediate and advanced users
The Eupho Syn. We originally marketed this product for advanced (solo) users, as its smaller size required better muscle tone to control. The more compact profile also makes it an excellent choice for couples play, particularly when used during intercourse. The Eupho Syn is our smallest prostate product and with our velvet touch silicone coating, it’s easy and comfortable to introduce, even for first-timers.
The Peridise Set. The Peridise was designed as an anal device and is one of our advanced user favorites. At under an inch in diameter, it’s an excellent ice-breaker for men and women who are new to anal play.
Our company believes that enjoyable sexual activity is important to healthy adult lifestyle regardless of physical disability. One group of consumers whom we are trying to serve are the physically challenged. What kinds of products do you offer or recommend which can help those with physical disabilities reconnect with partners?
While our products were originally developed for the treatment of prostatitis and BPH, many of our customers have found them useful in the treatment of erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation and urinary incontinence. We’ve also received reports from men with paralysis who require a hands-free device for sexual stimulation.
One such case involved a Gulf war military vet who was left paralyzed from the waist down. Consequently, he was unable to achieve an erection without great effort and discomfort. While in a VA hospital he was given a crude device, and instructed to have his wife massage his prostate until he became erect, so they could have intercourse. The process was painful, making sex an ordeal for the both of them. While they contemplated a life of abstinence, they desperately wanted to conceive a child. This came to our attention when we were contacted by a nurse friend, an RN, named Sue, who had read about the Aneros on line.
Our staff was moved by the couple’s story and sent them several of our products. A few months later Sue followed up to tell us that these folks were enjoying sex (pain-free) for the first time since before this man’s military tour. A year later, we received a letter from the couple themselves celebrating the birth of their first child. We’re very happy that people with disabilities and special needs have been have able to benefit from using our products.
Customers (okay me really) are curious as to how you do product research. How do you develop products? Are there focus groups? Are there online discussion groups? Do you use market trends?
The creation of our products is the result of the efforts of the owner of our company (the inventor of the Aneros) our product development staff and user feedback and involvement. Early on we heard from many of customers who were eager to share their experiences and suggestions with us. Most of this feedback came through our Aneros forum. In 2003, several of these users became our designated product testers.
Two years ago, one of these individuals formerly joined our staff becoming our product development manager. In 2016, he created a testing team/focus group comprised of current Aneros forum members. This approach has streamlined our development process and will facilitate the introduction of many more new products in future.
